Quality eye care for all ages

At Eyecare Specialists, we are proud to provide a personal, professional service and our friendly staff are always on hand to advise you, whatever your requirements. Our skilled optometrists specialise in the diagnosis, management and treatment of Dry Eye, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, Blepharitis, and other eye conditions.

We cater for patients of all ages and will examine children with eye issues as young as 6 months old, especially those with a family history of eye problems. We believe that all children, even those with no obvious visual problems should have their first eye test by the age of 3, definitely before they attend school. Children with reading difficulties may also benefit from a Wilkins rate of reading assessment with therapeutic tinted filters.

Advanced Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services

Our practices are equipped with cutting-edge technology, including retinal cameras, auto-fluorescence imaging, and OCT scanning, to ensure optimal eye health for families. We also offer Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy for those patients suffering with dry eye and rosacea.

As therapeutic optometrists, we treat most eye diseases in-house. Andrew Matheson's higher qualification in glaucoma allows us to modify glaucoma treatment plans without re-referral to eye hospitals. Patients with ocular hypertension, who may be at danger of developing glaucoma can be treated preventatively.

Our optometrists are also experienced in managing age-related eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and dry eye. Some families have been under our care for 4 generations.

Collaboration with Eye Clinics

Our optometrists have a wide range of experience, both working in our practices as well as providing cover at local hospital clinics. We collaborate closely with local NHS and private eye clinics to provide community care for glaucoma, medical retina screening and more. We work closely with other local specialists, particularly cataract, glaucoma, oculoplastic and vitreo-retinal surgeons as well as behavioural optometrists.

We offer post-surgery follow-up and treatment. Our therapeutic qualifications enable us to handle post-operative complications like cystoid macular oedema and uveitis swiftly, ensuring better recovery outcomes. We accept referrals for Eye exams, OCT scanning, dry eye treatment, acute emergency  eye-care, visual field testing, retinal photography, chromogen colour vision and reading difficulty assessment.

With newly refurbished practices in both Four Marks and Alton, we welcome both new and existing patients to our friendly professional team for all their eyecare. Our optometrists are part of the NHS Acute and Emergency Eyecare Scheme (CUES). This enables patients with various acute eye problems, such as pain, embedded foreign bodies and sudden changes in vision, to be treated promptly and locally. The assessment visit (if the patient is eligible) is usually carried out at no charge.

Spectacles and eyewear

We are confident we have a range of spectacle frames to suit everyone’s style and budget. This includes high end luxury frames such as Von Arkel, Reykjavik, Lindberg, Jaeger, Bellinger, Avanglion and Walter and Herbert. We also stock more affordable options such as our own brand of high quality frames. We stock Maui Jim Sunglasses and most of our sunglasses can be made with your prescription.
